You are almost entirely responsible for keeping Fuel Duty frozen for 15 years! No other tax levy has been kept frozen as long as Fuel Duty.

Bearing in mind that the last time Labour was in power, they increased it by 46%, it was a massive surprise that this new Chancellor listened to us and agreed to maintain the freeze on this regressive tax until March 2026.

But now, following the anti-growth punitive Budget, we need your help again. We would be indebted if you’d support Farmers by joining in with our successful collective influence again to help scrap the stupid new Inheritance Tax on our vital food producers.

Here is how to email Chancellor Rachel Reeves, DEFRA's Secretary of State Steve Reed, and the Prime Minister to ask them not to hit our Farmers with a 20% increase in Inheritance Tax, a policy that will ruin farming businesses and increase food prices.

It is now apparent, aptly shown by the Prime Minister's popularity plunging daily, that his mendacious far-left autocratic Labour Government knowingly misled its way into power with a succession of policy untruths. They continue to lie again and again.

One of these lies was the promise that Inheritance Tax changes would not hit generation farmers once Labour got the keys to No 10.

Independent economic research shows that average-sized family farms will see their profits plummet following Treasury decisions to slash tax breaks for Farmers.

As expected, left-wing politicians say this is purely a new tax on the wealthy. The reality, however, is that ordinary family farms will be hit hardest. Asking farms to use their meagre income to pay a vast capital tax bill over 10 years will threaten the future of investment and the viability of the business.

This policy risks food inflation, the enemy of economic growth and your weekly food shop. It will affect the price of food because these unexpected business-destroying tax repayments will have to be found from somewhere. There is also a risk that food supply security will be impacted. Certain home-grown foodstuffs will disappear and be replaced by expensive imports.

Without our farmers, we'd have no food on our tables. Did you know that UK farmers produce 61% of the food we eat and contribute £10.9 billion to our economy? The inheritance tax changes could devastate our agricultural industry, leading to higher prices and less production. We must support our farmers and ensure they can continue to provide for our communities.

I am relieved and grateful you did not increase Fuel Duty in your first budget. This will significantly help your Party’s laudable ambition to stimulate economic growth.
You must now finally recognise that increasing this regressive tax costs jobs, reduces GDP, punishes the commercial heartbeat haulage industry, halts business investment, restricts consumer spending, and increases inflation.
So, I warmly repeat, thank you for listening to FairFuelUK’s supporters.
But that is where the thanks stop!
Along with pensioners and business bosses, the other victims of your patently anti-business Budget are the Farmers. Your crippling and needless 20% inheritance tax hit on the very lifeblood of our food production and supply will be devastating.
Why have you done this? From my understanding and all I speak with, this policy needs to be revised as it will deliver little return to the Treasury.
I understand over 6,000 UK Farmers have supported FairFuelUK’s decade-and-a-half-long crusade to help keep pump prices as low as possible. As a result, these Farmers have asked the campaign’s founder, Howard Cox, through me via this email, to appeal to you to abandon this Inheritance Tax bombshell.
It’s time to support our much-maligned and 'struggling-to-stay-solvent' Farmers. For far too long, as one astute farmer told me this week, they have been taken for granted as price takers, not price makers. Your IHT policy will tip them out of the frying pan and into the fire. Please don't do it!
You have betrayed our hard-working farmers, specifically family-owned operations, who, for too long, have been forced to supply high-quality food produce way below the actual market value to ensure supermarkets can sell to us cheaply.
New research shows that average-sized family farms will see their profits plummet following your decision to slash tax breaks for Farmers.
The Country Land and Business Association (CLA) says inheritance tax (IHT) bills will now extinguish profits yearly for 10 years.
Farmers' groups dispute your Party’s claims that 73% of farms will be unaffected.
A typical 200-acre arable farm could be forced to sell off profit-generating productive land. With an expected annual profit of £27,000, for example, it would face an IHT liability of £430k. Even when spread over 10 years, farms must allocate 160% of their yearly profit to cover the tax bill or sell off 20% of their land.
Why would the next generation of Farmers want to take on that level of debilitating liability?
So, who would buy this land? Big business, of course! Greedy corporations eager to take advantage of the lucrative opportunities in building solar panels and wind turbine operations financed by taxpayers to pay for Ed Miliband’s Net Zero bankrupting ideologically ill-informed fantasy!
As expected, your politics of envy left-wing colleagues say this is purely a tax on the wealthy; the reality, however, is that ordinary family farms will be hit hardest. Asking farms to use their meagre income to pay a vast capital tax bill over 10 years, if indeed it is possible, will threaten the future of investment and the viability of their business.
More worryingly, you now risk food inflation, the enemy of economic growth and my weekly food spending.
This colossal tax hike will affect the price of food because tax repayments will have to be found from somewhere. There is also a risk that food supply security will be impacted. Certain home-grown foodstuffs will disappear and be replaced by expensive imports.
There is a sinister aspect to your less-than-sensible attack on Farmers. John McTernan, who served as Tony Blair's political secretary, sparked fury in a GBNews interview, saying: ‘Family farming is 'an industry we can do without.' Is that Labour’s official position?
And that is not all. Your increase in Employer's National Insurance contribution will raise the cost of staffing for businesses and Farmers. Extra Carbon tax levies and your COP29 threat of a 20% move away from meat and dairy products, compounded by the impossible undertaking to reduce the country’s emissions by 81% by 2035, will add even more worry to Farmers.
I fully support our British Farmers' protests to make you think again. These policies will not support economic growth, which is already slowing under your governance. But one outcome is inevitable: they will advance the decline in our proud agricultural and livestock heritage.
Please drop the 20% IHT policy on Farmers.
